cold weather kit available from GATEWith cold weather on its way (and hopefully an end to the seemingly endless rain), Leeds GATE's members are preparing to help.  So far 10 families have volunteered to be 'cold weather buddies' and offered to keep a first aid cold weather pack at their home or in cars.  Supported by Leeds City Council's Winter Warmth Fund, Leeds GATE have bought kit such as tracks for tyres and snow shoes. Families volunteering have agreed to help out neighbours, especially the elderly, should bad weather hit.

Tyson FuryIt is fair to say that the past couple of weeks have been a mixed bag for boxer Tyson Fury. He recently beat Wladimir Klitschko in a heavyweight matchup, becoming World Champion in the process; I’m not a boxing fan but even I am aware that this was a big deal. Sadly, shortly after this he got caught up in a public outcry following some comments which many have criticised for being homophobic and sexist. So why does this all matter and what are we to think about it?

“So what you are saying Dad is that this is the best Santa is town?”

“I just hope he listens to my very clear request of a drum kit.”

James Carver MEPLast Thursday I had the opportunity to attend the Traveller Movement annual conference alongside our CEO Helen and six community members. Firstly, many thanks to all at the Traveller Movement for putting together such a good event, one buzzing with energy and strong ideas. As will all such positive conferences or meetings, it has prompted questions which have stayed with me the past few days.
