Thank you to all

I wanted to say a few words of thanks for the fantastic reception we have received to Molly’s adventures with Travellers, my recent set of illustrated short stories. For those who missed it, we released an episode each day last week, including over the weekend, so if you missed them, have a look here to find the whole of the series.

As a part of our funding from the Play Enabling Grant from Leeds City Council we were determined to leave some fun stuff for the children and young people on Cottingley Springs to improve their outdoor space.

Over the summer we’d put on a range of activities on sites such as Boxing by ex professional Jimmy Lowther, street games, crafts and sports days and trips to the farm.

Review by Elisha – Leeds GATE Work Placement

Bullying checklistBullying is hard for everyone it starts off as a joke and only tormenting a person but it turns into bullying when it happens every day and every time you see that person. It is intimidating can also be stressful for the girl/boy.  Bullying can be online or face to face it is very fearful for the person getting bullied, it interferes with their work/school environment.

Elisha Buxton, Leeds GATE Work Placement, reviews Ben Chastney's illustrated stories

I thought Ben's stories was really good, they was put into ways where it explained what happens in Gypsy/Travellers lives and put into away that everyone could understand. The photos that Peter Hudspith had designed for Bens stories were very comic and draw attention to them, they would help the Gypsy/Travellers to look at the pictures to help them if they can’t read. I also think that the pictures fit the story by showing what is happening in the stories and some of them also show expressions and reactions on the characters faces. The pictures are of modern Traveller homes which shows the pictures are chosen very carefully and cleverly.

Molly’s adventures with Travellers – TV hell

“So Molly that was a pretty bad episode of the nation’s favourite soap. Didn’t see one smile all half hour.”

“Well that’s probably because misery sells. Helps people feel better about their own lives by comparison with wall to wall tears. Speaking of which, what’s on next.”
