Health Advocate Position

Ratings systemLeeds GATE are excited to announce a new position for a Health Advocate. The Health Advocate will work with our Advocacy Worker to provide a reliable and confidential health advocacy service which provides information, signposting and support to Gypsy and Traveller individuals and their families in the Leeds area.

The Health Advocate will assist in the delivery of health development activities, work with GATE staff and other partners to feed into strategic objectives and deliver on consultation and engagement opportunities.

The Health Advocate will work collaboratively with services, community members and other GATE staff to develop appropriate health and social care pathways to services based on the principles of co-production. The role will promote empowerment, engagement and independence, individually and across the communities, taking an asset based approach -regarding people and communities as the primary asset in their own health and wellbeing.

You will be part of a small staff and volunteer team in a busy community setting. You will uphold GATE’s values at all times. We are looking for a positive person who enjoys team work and is flexible, motivated and able to inspire and motivate others.

Please note this post is also being offered as a secondment opportunity where the applicants substantive organisation is agreeable and able to negotiate terms with Leeds GATE.
