It was a big day for Leeds GATE and our CEO Helen Jones on 17th November when she recieved an honorary doctor of laws at the Dundee University winter graduation ceremony.  Having never attended university as a student herself, Helen was quite overwhelmed to recieve the award which was made in recognition of the impact of our work to improve the health and wellbeing of Gypsy and Traveller people.

During her acceptance speech to a packed Caird Hall Helen made clear that she felt the award recognised not only her own work but that of all the Gypsy and Traveller people who had contributed to the development of Leeds GATE during the past 15 years.  "Though they are not visible today, I am truly standing here on the shoulders of giants", she said.  You can watch the full speech here. Congratulations Helen!
