We are delighted to announce we are recruiting to our highly successful advocacy team.

Leeds GATE are an award winning community members organisation for Gypsies and Travellers based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Our overall aim is to improve quality of life for Gypsies and Travellers through addressing inequalities in homes, health, education, employment and financial and social inclusion. We run a number of community facing and strategic projects to achieve our aims including advocacy, community development and youth work.

Leeds GATE are looking for a committed individual to contribute to our advocacy team. Our established, well used and highly regarded advocacy service works with Gypsies and Travellers across West Yorkshire to support equitable access, options and choice. We provide signposting and support and are often the primary service being accessed by our members. We work with our members to embed skills for self-advocacy. We are an asset based organisation working to the principles of Asset Based Community Development and we fulfill our value of being brave and creative in our work. 

Our frontline work is holistic and works across a number of themes as directed by our members which include; welfare rights, accommodation rights, consumer rights, healthcare access, education access, criminal justice and human rights and hate crime reporting.

The role will also assist the Advocacy Co-ordinator in delivering work to address strategic priorities.
