Ben and EltonIf you would like to know more about volunteering at Leeds GATE?  You can get in touch here.

We want to say a really big thank you to our outgoing volunteer Elton Muchemwa.  Elton has been with us since the start of the year supporting our front-line advocacy service a couple of days a week.  Not only did he provide a very useful extra pair of hands and some great knowledge, particularly about housing, but his approach to everything was fantastic.  Staff and members alike commented on how approachable and considerate Elton was throughout his time here.  We will miss the contribution he made each week and wish him all the best in his new role.

We ourselves are pleased to have been able to ensure that Elton had such a positive time volunteering at GATE.  Aside from the training he accessed and day to day experiences, we were delighted how welcome Elton felt; one of GATE’s key goals.  “I had a great time, it felt like a family” was his parting comment and we have our members to thank in helping us make him feel so positive about his time here.

This naturally leaves us with an exciting volunteer post to fill.  The details can be found here but essentially we are looking for someone to support our frontline advocacy work a day or two per week. As Elton and other volunteers have hopefully found, we will strive to provide a welcoming and interesting work environment, with worthwhile training and experiences throughout.  Please just ask for details!
