A Heritage Project by Leeds GATE

Caroline Sweeney writes:

This book has been developed as part of a heritage project looking at the history of the Lee Gap Horse Fair. The Gypsy and Irish Traveller communities have lived in the Yorkshire region for over 500 years, but there has been a surprising dearth of literature, activity and re-sources celebrating the unique culture and heritage of these communities. The Heritage Project aimed to address the gap and give greater prominence to the history of the Traveller communities as an important segment in the history and diversity of Yorkshire society.

The book above is a photo book that documents Lee Gap over the years.
