Learning and young people

Education comes in many forms for both young people and adults. We provide spaces where members of different ages can learn in a welcoming space. Our youth team are passionate about Gypsy and Traveller young people, helping them gain confidence and succeed.

Gypsies and Travellers have the right to a safe and nurturing school environment and to go onto college and university if they choose to. Many of our members choose to home-school their children and we offer support to families on their options.

Our youth team can support you/your children to get involved in our groups, meet new people and build confidence.

Young People are at the heart of everything we do, deciding what they want to do and having their voice heard. We invest in our young people, because they are the future.

Make a referral

If you are from a partner organisation or other service you can refer to us for support if the young person is from West Yorkshire. We can help with people out of area on a case by case basis, or help by referring you to another service local to you that can help.

Send it back to our secure inbox at confidential@leedsgate.co.uk with ‘referral’ in the subject line and it will get forwarded to the relevant staff member.

If you work for an organisation or service and have specific questions, please go to our contact page to find the other ways you can get in touch.

The reason I come to Leeds GATE is because of being bullied in school and all the racism in school. It’s a place where you can feel safe like you’re not gonna get bullied cause we’re all Travellers. It’s good there because you get to learn everything you want and you’re not forced to do anything you don’t want to do.
